Baby-proofing means more than what many think
Quickly - when I say “baby proofing,” what are the first few thoughts that come to mind.
Chances are, you thought of gates on the stairs, storing poisons out of reach and making sure there were no small things around that a baby may swallow. If you really think about it, some of you may have thought about fire dangers (lighters, matches) and cords on blinds. But, did you think about the stability of your furniture?
In 2007, a commission found that unstable furniture was one of the “top 5 hidden home hazards” and caused at least 180 tip-over related deaths between 2000 and 2006. Most of the children, 80% were 10 years old or younger.
You can learn more about the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) and their safety report at Unstable Furniture Poses Deadly Danger To Children. There, you will find tips on how to keep your home safer.
