Unbelievable: Scottish slimming products aimed at pregnant women
You know, it gets to the point when you know you’ll never hear it all. There will always be something that will surprise you.
I’ve written on the dangers of women who try their best to not look pregnant by not gaining weight. I’m not talking about naturally slim women who don’t gain it, but women who purposely don’t gain because they get a kick out of being told "oh! You don’t look pregnant at all!" (Pregorexics?) Now, there are companies actively advertising to these women.
In Scotland, two SureSlim weight loss clinics have begun offering diets/eating plans for pregnant women to help them minimize their weight gain during pregnancy, increasing their chances for a quick weight loss after delivery.
When we debate as to whether Hollywood celebrities have an impact on women and their self-image, I think this is one case where this is glaringly obvious. Although women aren’t encouraged to gain too much weight in pregnancy because that can also cause problems, women must gain a certain amount to ensure that the proper nutrients are getting to the baby and not being taken from the mother without getting replaced. The need to look as slim as the celebrities like Angelina Jolie just after delivery is not only silly and misguided, it can be downright dangerous.
What’s wrong with looking pregnant (that’s what we are when we are carrying a child) and then losing weight slowly but properly after?
Anyway, if you want to read about the story in Scotland, you can check out the newspaper report: Pregnancy diet under attack.

Yeah- Angelina’s figure when she was pregnant was pretty scary. I cant imagine what her doctor must have thought. Not picking on her specifically, as I dont know her situation, i cant imagine anyone choosing asthetics over the health of their unborn child.
