I feel that it’s never too early to start educating yourself on the process of labour, and birth. Even if you’ve done it all before.Generally, it’s a good idea to begin some form of education for you and your birth partner by about 20-24 weeks with the aim to have your labor preparation finished by 34 weeks. The 4-week format gives you time to process what you have learned and think about how you will implement it on the day your baby arrives.
Ideally, you should start birthing classes in your second or third trimester.
-
Research shows that a positive birth experience – regardless of where and how – is dependent on two things: the birthing person being able to make informed decisions. Knowledge is power.Birthing classes give you accessible evidence-based information, language to confidently discuss your birth preferences with your care provider and practical skills to navigate pregnancy, birth, and postpartum.
This class doesn’t just cover one variation of labor and birth! It covers inductions, cesareans, postpartum recovery, and feeding your baby.
-
If you are not able to make it to the class, we will offer a make up class to reschedule. Upon booking your class, we require a $50 non-refundable deposit due to the limited class size.
-
Our birth class can be beneficial for you as we talk about how to prepare for birth, coping methods (for cesarean births), and everything that happens after you bring baby home. This includes soothing a baby, newborn sleep, newborn care, and self care for you and your partner to ease that transition.
